Forgues

Forgues is a commune of 523 hectares located between the Savè and Touch rivers, bordering the Gers department.

It is home to the 19th-century church of St-Marie, with its modern 20th-century bell tower. Beautiful views of the Gers hillsides and the Pyrenees can be seen from Forgues. You can also discover an old windmill at Boulbènes and half-timbered houses in the village.

The discovery of quarry stones attests to human occupation in the Neolithic period; other evidence also points to a Gallo-Roman presence. In 1246, Forgues was part of the Savès seigneury. Around the year 1000, the village was located around the ancient castera; in the 13th century, it settled on its current site in the axis of the motte, located behind the church.
