Le Fousseret
Balade du Pile Hangue
Departure : Parking du Picon
1. Join the market hall in the town centre, then turn left in front of the patisserie onto rue Notre Dame, which runs alongside the media library. On the left, admire the 17th-century statue of the Virgin Mary in the wall of a house on the site of a former chapel of the same name. Walk down to the brick bridge.
2. Before the bridge, turn right uphill. Cross the D6 to take the small shady path opposite. Follow it downhill towards the stream and the Cazac fountain (turn right after the bridge). The path climbs.
3. After 600 m, continue straight ahead on the small tarmac road. After 500 m, before reaching the highest point, turn around and admire the view of the village and the Pyrenees. Continue to the crossroads and turn right onto the departmental road CD6 known as ‘de la de Lasserre’.
4. At the crossroads at Bacheyre, turn left towards Castelnau/l'Isle en Dodon. Warning: Visibility is very poor at this point. For safety reasons, keep to the right.
5. After 400 m, turn left after the farm and drive down the small road for 1.3 km. After the small bridge, take the path on the left that runs alongside the stream for 2 km. This joins the D48. Turn left towards the village.
6. After 1.5 km, at the crossroads with the road known as ‘A Peyrot’, turn left onto a small path that leads from the cross and up to the cooperative. Cross the road and follow the ‘centre-ville/ mairie’ sign to the market hall and Picon garden. CAUTION: in the event of rain, the narrow path may be impassable. Stay on the road to return to the village. Continue straight on for approximately 400 m until you reach the Post Office. Head towards the town centre. After 25 m, take the path on the right that leads to Rue de la Porte d'En Bas. Turn left for 40 m, then take the beautiful Coquinère staircase that leads to the Picon garden, from where you can admire the landscape from the orientation table.
