In 2026, the Musée de la Faïence de Martres-Tolosane celebrates twenty years of commitment to heritage, creation and transmission. Twenty years during which the museum, created in 2006, has established itself as a living place, open to its region, its people and the crafts for which Martres-Tolosane is renowned.
To mark this anniversary, an exceptional programme will run from 4 March to 18 December 2026, placing at the heart of the event those who are making and have made the history of Martres earthenware.
The festivities will kick off with a participatory exhibition built in conjunction with local residents, highlighting the fundamental role played by local people in the museum’s memory and identity. Faience workshops still in operation today will be featured alongside those that were open when the museum was founded, paying tribute to the continuity of local know-how and creativity.
This anniversary year will also be punctuated by cultural highlights:
– a conference
– a retrospective of the Salon des Arts et du Feu, an emblematic event for ceramic creation,
– a temporary exhibition of photographs of the École Boulle by Christian Sauthier, offering a contemporary perspective on the arts and crafts,
– and a tribute to Jean-Louis Toutain, a key figure in the Salon des Arts et du Feu, including an exhibition of collaborative works.
Vernissages, meetings and events will punctuate the year, making the museum a place for sharing, discovery and celebration, true to its primary vocation: to pass on a living heritage, rooted in the present and looking to the future.
To mark its twentieth anniversary, the Musée de la Faïence de Martres-Tolosane invites everyone to come and celebrate a collective history, made of earth, fire, gestures and passion.
