About

Every year on Trinity Sunday, Martres-Tolosane pays tribute to its patron saint, Saint Vidian, with a historical and religious re-enactment of the famous battle. Since 1845, this tradition has perpetuated the memory of Vidian, a knight of Charlemagne who fell to the Saracens.

More than 150 volunteers in period costumes, accompanied by horses, parade through the streets of the town, from the church to the fountain of Saint-Vidian for a blessing, before moving on to the ‘Campestre’ field for the mock battle. The ceremony concludes with a musical procession and ...
