Un brin sauvage is an association of enthusiasts of traditional basketry, with around fifteen members in Mondavezan. Throughout the year, members share their expertise in wickerwork in a friendly atmosphere where everyone can develop their creativity at their own pace.
The association cultivates an authentic approach to basketry by mastering every stage of the production process. In winter, once the leaves have fallen, members harvest the wicker themselves from private properties in Mondavezan and neighbouring villages. The wicker strands are then carefully sorted by size and colour before being transformed, throughout the rest of the year, into unique creations made with patience and passion.
Workshops and activities:
In partnership with the Foyer rural de Mondavezan, the association organises introductory basket-weaving workshops, held on selected Saturdays in late winter or early spring.
These sessions, limited to eight participants, offer the chance to discover traditional basket-weaving techniques and take home your own creation, guided by experienced enthusiasts.
Throughout the year, Un brin sauvage also takes part in various events: summer craft markets, Christmas markets and the European Heritage Days. On these occasions, the basket weavers offer demonstrations of their craft and introductory sessions open to the public, such as making wicker flowers.
