Street Louise THÈBE

Formerly known as rue De Ferran (a former family of notaries from Martres-Tolosane), this is one of the oldest streets in the village and was once the busiest, as the main street (rue de l’Église, through which all the carriage traffic passed) was not wide enough to accommodate shop stalls. Itinerant traders came to sell their wares in this sunny, quiet street with their little carts, strollers and baskets.
Stones and pieces of marble from the Gallo-Roman villa at Chiragan and bricks from the old “La Ramère” tile works have been inserted into the wall of the garden of the Grand Presbytère, which runs alongside the street. This street was restored in 1998 and offers visitors a glimpse of another era, complementing the peaceful surroundings of the Grand Presbytère.
