This adventure began following the screening of the film “eponymous” on 1 July 2018 at the “Utopia” cinema in Tournefeuille. At that moment, the idea of a shared habitat became the project of Anne-Marie Faucon and Michel Malacarnet. The “Et si on vivait tous ensemble” association was formed with a college of volunteers at the constituent general meeting in October 2018. After several months of meetings, contacts with people working in the field of shared housing and visits to possible locations, this wonderful project came to fruition in Bérat with the acquisition in 2019 of an 18th-century house surrounded by a magnificent park in the heart of the village.
This initiative has given concrete expression to the possibility of living in a different way today and ageing well, not in solitude, but in conviviality and beauty, close to nature in a village of 3,000 inhabitants.
Completely renovated, La Ménardière is ideally set in wooded grounds. The two-storey building has 670 m² of living space, 180 m² of which is shared with the ground floor, providing comfortable, bright and spacious yet functional communal areas: a renovated, well-equipped kitchen, a beautiful dining room, a large lounge, a library and, outside in the heart of the 1.5 ha of parkland, a swimming pool and a bowling green. In front of the swimming pool is a small house converted into a summer kitchen with a large 50 m² dining room.
The project is just getting off the ground, and the Ménardière team is working to ensure that it can become the basis for many other projects involving culture, permaculture and living well together.

The estate also offers bed and breakfast accommodation in an ideal setting for relaxation and conviviality. There are three 40 m² rooms for 2 people to rent for €70 a night, and a 40 m² room with a kitchenette for €85 a night (breakfast included and sliding scale according to length of stay).
